Chief Manley

The men and women of the Austin Police Department are honored to serve a community that is diverse, rapidly growing, innovative, and progressive. Austin is currently the 11th largest city in the nation and we are continually adding new residents to our city each day. With this constant growth, we also have an ever-growing need for more police officers to protect our citizens and visitors, and to serve our community.

One thing that I find unique about APD is that we offer over 50 specialized units that officers are eligible to apply for after 4 years of service. Everything from the Air Unit to Police Technology – if you can think of it, APD probably has a specialized unit that will enable you to explore your interests and broaden your talents. Along with opportunities for promotions, your career potential at our agency is virtually endless.

We’re looking for police officer candidates who have a desire to protect our citizens and the heart to connect with the community we serve. If this sounds like you, we’d like to have you join our team.
